As it stands, I am up every morning at 05:30 and out the door by 06:00. Off to the beach for my morning steps, my sunrise photos and my time with the Lord. This particular morning I was thinking about old friends from my youth and the things we used to do. Art was always there in my life. From painting pottery in Vacation Bible School, to sketching things on the old farm, to art class in school. My time in the U.S.Navy allowed for some downtime and time to draw, paint and create. Throughout my Engineering career I was drawing, but in a more technical fashion with models and mechanical drawings. I've also been a photography nut my whole life. Several years ago I was at an art function and I'll never forget what this lady told me. She said, "do what you love and the money will come" She was right, but it's not about the little money I was getting for some of my art. It's also about timing and relationships and being happy with what you are doing while sharing yourself with others to enjoy. I retired from my Engineering job as soon as financially feasible to focus on what's important. I don't regret that decision. My health, my family, my passion for art\photography and writing are my focus now.
Just like finding this empty Scotch bonnet shell this morning. My travels take me to many places, and it's exciting to find things while I'm there. Like myself, It also had a past, a present and now a future. Stick with me as I move forward with my art. https://fineartamerica.com/profiles/2-john-binkley You can also join my Facebook group JB Originals for more of what I do.
Did you know, the Scotch bonnet is the official shell of North Carolina. (since 1965)
